RDE is initiating a product development with partners: TRACED, a programme that transforms compliance from paper-heavy duplication into trusted, digital, once-only processes. Anchored in the EUDI Wallet framework, TRACED replaces repetitive forms, stamps, and manual checks with verifiable credentials that businesses and inspectors can rely on instantly—online or offline—while sharing only what is necessary.

Our first use case targets cross-border live animal transport, one of Europe’s most demanding compliance chains. Core obligations—such as driver training, vehicle approval, veterinary health certificates, fitness-to-travel checks, and journey logs with rest stops—are redesigned as credentials issued by competent authorities, carried in a wallet, and verified in the field. Audit receipts and revocation mechanisms support lawful reliance and trust across borders.

TRACED goes beyond digitisation by systematically reworking procedures end-to-end. The work includes mapping legal bases and evidence flows into a Once-Only Legal Map, producing burden dashboards and playbooks to eliminate duplication, and delivering interoperability dossiers aligned with the Interoperable Europe approach. A distinctive component is AI-driven compliance analytics, turning credential receipts and pilot logs into actionable compliance intelligence and anonymised indicators that can be benchmarked and replicated through the Common European Agricultural Data Space.
